Gesing

Gesing Village originates from an early settlement called Pangi, one of four destinations chosen by the Tamblingan community when they descended from Alas Mertajati at the end of the 14th century. Gesing is an integral part of the Catur Desa customary system with a specific role in annual and biennial ceremonial practices. Gesing's territory borders directly on the Alas Mertajati area and is one of the most active villages in the struggle for customary forest recognition. Gesing residents are actively involved in Brasti activities to protect the forest from investment threats and land conversion. The village is located in Banjar District, Buleleng Regency, and its landscape is characterised by clove and coffee plantations.
