Danau Tamblingan

Lake Tamblingan

Kawasan Alas Mertajati, Munduk, Banjar, Buleleng Lake Tamblingan is a volcanic lake situated at approximately 1,100 metres above sea level, surrounded by the dense and preserved tropical forest of Alas Mertajati. The lake is a sacred area for the Adat Dalem Tamblingan community — protected and sanctified through ceremonial rituals held every two years. The lake's main appeal lies in its serene, clear waters, the reflection of green forest on its surface, and the mystical atmosphere created by morning mist. Visitors can enjoy traditional boat rides (pedahu/jukung) across the lake, forest trekking along its shores, and the sight of ancient temples standing at the water's edge. The lake is also a water source for communities across two regencies — Buleleng and Tabanan — making it not only a tourism destination but also a vital ecosystem that must be collectively preserved.

Alas Mertajati

Alas Mertajati — Customary Forest Trekking

Alas Mertajati is a 1,298-hectare customary forest that has been protected by the Adat Dalem Tamblingan community for centuries. Located at an altitude of 1,200–1,400 metres above sea level, the area offers a unique trekking experience that is both culturally and spiritually profound. Trekking in Alas Mertajati is not ordinary nature tourism — visitors are guided by members of Brasti (Baga Raksa Alas Mertajati) who share stories of the indigenous community's struggle, the forest's biodiversity, and the philosophical values embedded in every tree and spring. Within the forest lie 17 ancient roofless temples, various medicinal plants, and diverse endemic flora including locally named trees such as kalijee, kejuang, lentoro, pelindo, and gintungan growing naturally throughout the forest.

Kebun Kopi

Tamblingan Arabica Coffee Plantation

The Catur Desa area is known as a producer of high-quality arabica coffee grown on mountain slopes at optimal altitude. Coffee plantations in Munduk and Gobleg villages offer an agro-tourism experience where visitors can observe cultivation, harvesting, and processing directly. Tamblingan Arabica Coffee is known for its distinctive flavour — a combination of the altitude of Mount Batukaru's slopes, fertile volcanic soil, and traditional processing methods passed down through generations. At Don Biyu in Munduk Village, visitors can taste the coffee while enjoying a panoramic view of the mountain range. Brasti also encourages the community to return to growing coffee as a perennial crop, replacing flowers and vegetables that risk causing erosion and declining groundwater quality.
